Model aircraft buying guide: materials, liveries and finish
Two models of the same aircraft can feel very different. This checklist helps you read a product page, assess photographs and buy according to qualities that still matter once the model is on display.

Die-cast, plastic and resin
Die-cast metal adds weight and solidity; plastic allows light, fine shapes; resin suits specific production runs and needs careful handling. No material guarantees accuracy by itself.
Check which parts are metal or plastic, particularly wings, gear, engines and stand. Judge the complete model: proportion, assembly, printing and stability.
Mould, printing and alignment
Inspect the nose profile, wing root, engines and tail. Doors, windows and livery lines should be crisp and aligned with fuselage references.
Multiple viewing angles reveal lean or asymmetry. Small simplifications are normal; decide which details matter to your collecting style.
Livery, registration and edition
The livery places an aircraft with an operator and often an era. The registration identifies one real airframe. A special edition is valuable to you when it supports your collection, not simply because it is advertised as limited.
Match the title to the photographs: variant, operator, scale and scheme should agree throughout the listing.
Signs of a transparent purchase
Look for a clear total price, live stock, return terms, secure payment, shipping information and contact details. Confirm dimensions and whether stand or landing gear is included. Inspect the model in good light on arrival.
